Battle of Carabobo
On june 26th, 1821, between the Patriots led by Simon bolivar and the Realists commanded by Miguel de la Torre. The battle took place on the plains of Carabobo, actual state of Carabobo, Venezuela. The Patriot army counted with 7,500 men and the Realist with 4,500.
The battle sparked when Bolivar sent Jose Antonio Paez division to attack the left flank of the enemy, but the Spanish battalion counterattacked and made them retreat, luckily thanks to the "British Hunter" the effect reversed making the Realists fall back.
This victory permitted Bolivar o recover Caracas, and initiate the southern campaign to expel the Spanish from Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia(1822-1826). Meanwhile his subordinates to free Venezuela ended winning the naval battle of Lake Maracaibo in 1823.
